Terms of Service additions: launch version
Launch draft v1.3 for attorney review. Effective date: October 17, 2026. Insert into frontend/src/terms-of-service.html. "We", "us" and "our" mean the PuggieType team. Launch scope: solo typing tests plus private-lobby multiplayer with random server-assigned nicknames. There is no chat and no quick-chat. Public matches are "coming soon". Parked items are in parked-chat-clauses.md.
1. Age requirement
PuggieType's solo typing test needs no account and collects no account data. You must be at least 13 years old to use multiplayer. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, use multiplayer only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
2. Private lobbies
Multiplayer races take place in private lobbies of up to 8 players. When you create a lobby you get an invite link and a lobby code. Anyone who has the link or code can join the lobby while it is open, so share it only with people you want to race. Lobbies close when everyone leaves. Public matchmaking isn't available yet.
3. Nicknames
In multiplayer, our server gives you a random nickname. You can't type your own. Your nickname is shown only to the other players in your lobby and is not stored after the lobby closes. There is no chat, and players can't send each other messages.
4. Acceptable use
When you use PuggieType, you agree not to:
- cheat, or use bots, scripts or automation to play or submit races;
- interfere with, overload or try to get unauthorized access to our servers, or disrupt other players' races;
- try to get around rate limits, lobby limits or other technical protections;
- join lobbies you weren't invited to by guessing or scraping codes;
- impersonate the PuggieType team;
- use PuggieType for anything illegal.
5. Enforcement
We may, at our discretion and without notice, remove any player from a lobby, close a lobby, rate-limit or block IP addresses or devices, or suspend access to multiplayer for anyone who breaks these Terms. To report a problem, email [email protected].
6. Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on PuggieType (for example, a quote or word list) infringes your copyright, send a written notice to [email protected] that includes: (a) your physical or electronic signature; (b) a description of the copyrighted work; (c) a description of the material you believe infringes and where it appears on the site; (d) your name, address, telephone number and email address; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
We will review valid notices and remove or replace infringing material.
